20 stand-out Australian electronic artists from 2017

The year has come to an end, and what a year in Australian dance music it was.

2017 saw the introduction a plethora new artists into the scene, as well as the cementation already established artists making waves.

From hard-hitting techno to luscious, vocal driven electronica, the Australian market really delivered the goods on the electronic front this year, so we decided to take a look back at some the artists who stood out the most to us over the past 12-months.

Peep our 20 stand-out artists 2017 below, in no particular order. Who are you looking forward to in 2018?

A Melbourne duo who we pegged as up-and-coming in 2016 and really came into their own this year.

The cousinly duo shared their long awaited debut album this year and it did NOT disappoint.

If there were any doubts towards Mallrat they were disposed and burnt this year. Super-star in the making!

Miss Blanks

Hands down one the most important acts to rise in 2017. Her live show says it all.

We expected a big 2017 from Enschway and he delivered. Keep them heavy-duty remixes coming.

Groove-centric house tunes for the club or for the living room, you choose, it fits anywhere!

Partystarter/tastemaker who is gifted in the art form clubbing. CC arguably has the best DJ set going round.

Korky Buchek

These local lads are as talented as they are humorous, and have no fear slipping that humour into their finely crafted tracks.

Haiku Hands

Another stellar live performance you just have to see to understand. Haiku Hands are like nothing else coming out Australia right now.

Mall Grab

He killed it in 2016 and backed it up with flying colours this year. Now based in London, Mall Grab keeps dishing up the EP’s and impressing every time.

Willaris. K

One our personal favourite discoveries in 2017, Willaris. K quickly became a must-have on the festival circuit this year with his dark, brooding electronica.

Stoney alumni, Badrapper stopped writing about music and focused on making it himself this year. To the moon, Joshy boy.

Jordan Burns

The Brisbane local has been steadily churning out the tunes all year, each time showing signs progression.

Human Movement

Be it throwing stacked parties or dropping the odd track when you least expect it, Human Movement have kept us on our toes this year and we’re not mad!

Easily one the most talented artists doing it right now, with the style to match. Woodes is another act on a super-star pathway.

Christopher Port

This guy is extremely gifted when it comes to production, and his latest EP was a real flex from the Melbourne artist. He’s going to be around for a long time.

If you’re not around Austen yet, consider this your much needed intro. She is something special.

Alice Ivy

Another personal fave, Alice Ivy has a unique take on electronic music that we couldn’t get enough this year.

Nina OWNED 2017. The young producer was something an overnight success story with her debut release but proved that she is no one-hit-wonder this year.

Another eclectic musical duo from Melbourne, SAATSUMA have been putting in the hard yards all year and it has certainly paid f. Expect massive things in 2018 from these two.
