Greater Manchester's mayor has launched a review into the region's music scene

A review into Greater Manchester’s music scene has been commissioned by the region’s mayor, Andy Burnham, as announced at Low Four Studio.

The mayor’s says “the review will look into how to best support artists, music venues & businesses to enhance Greater Manchester’s status as a music city-region”.

Speaking at the event, Burnham described how “Greater Manchester has led the way when it comes to British music”.

He added: We must build on this…to truly embed culture and the arts in the heart our communities and give future generations the opportunities to fulfil their creative potential”, Music Week .

Burnham, who will be working with UK Music, hopes “this review will enable us to support artists, businesses and audiences all genres so that they are able to get more out creating the music they love”.
