UPDATE: According to reports, DMX was never breathing on his own or off life support. His longterm lawyer recanted an initial statement made publicly on New York’s Pix11.

Meanwhile DMX’s family has issued a statement on the rapper’s condition.

We are issuing this statement to combat all the false and misleading reports that are circulating on social media. Last night Earl ‘DMX’ Simmons was rushed to the hospital after collapsing at home. At this time he remains in ICU in critical condition. Earl has been a warrior his entire life. This situation represents yet another road he must cross.

The Simmons Family appreciates the overwhelming outpouring of heartfelt love, encouragement, support and prayers for Earl. Earl is someone whose life and music has been a source of inspiration and strength to so many people around the world. It is reassuring to see his fans return that same passion and energy to him during his time of need.

Previous report:

DMX is back on life support.

However, the rapper going back to life support, after breathing on his own, is simply precaution. DMX, as reported by AllHipHop, was taken off life support and was breathing on his own. Still, as the night wanes on and he continues to fight for his life, DMX needs help to get through the night.

As a precautionary measure, to ensure the legendary rapper makes it through the night, DMX was put back on life support. He is still able to breath on his own, as previously reported by AllHipHop.

The family is resting and is able to to do so with their family member back on life support.

DMX’s family willingly put him back on life support as a precaution.

DMX suffered from a heart attack, which was exacerbated by drug use. The rapper’s addictions have been well documented.
