Students stage die-in protests on anniversary of Pulse nightclub shooting

TwoyearsagoinOrlando,Florida,agunmanenteredPulseNightclubandopenedfire,killing49peopleandinjuring68more.NowasguncontrolisincreasinglybecomingafocusintheUnitedStates,thisrecentnationwideprotestaimedtohonorthevictimsthevariousshootingsthathavetakenplacewhilealsobringingmoreawarenesstotheguncontroldebate.

Therecentprotestsawparticipantsdroptothegroundfor12-minutes,whichisapproximately720second,onesecondforeveryvictimamassshootingthattookplacesincethePulseattack.

InWestPalmBeach,studentsfromPalmBeachCountyHighSchoolsandMarjoryStonemanDouglasjoinedmembersanti-gunviolencegroupMarchforourLivesandGaysAgainstGunsinthedie-inprotestthattookplaceacrossthewaterfromPresidentDonaldTrump’sMar-a-Lagoresort,accordingto.Theyworethecolororangetosymbolizegunsafety.

OntheoppositesidethecountryinSanFranciscostudentsgatheredatCivicCenterPlazaandinWashingtonD.C.thedie-nprotesttookplaceinfronttheCapitolbuilding.RalliesonTuesdayalsooccurredinmajorcitiessuchasNewYorkCity,ChicagoandLosAngeles.

Asidefromthedie-inprotests,amemorialwasbuilttohonorthevictimsthePulsetragedytookplaceinOrlando,wheremanypaidtheirrespectsatthenightclublocation.

Earlierthisweek,survivorsandvictimsfromthePulsenightclubshootingandacollectionpoliceficersforallegedlyfailingintheirdutiesinresponsetotheattack.Thisfollowedanotherlawsuitfrom16survivorswho.Theyclaimedthethreecompanies”aidedandabetted”ISISandwereawareISISusedtheirsitesforrecruiting,whichapparentlyviolatestheJusticeAgainstSponsorsTerrorismAct.
