Kamaal Williams, aka Henry Wu, shared a brand new music video this week for his 2018 lower ‘New Heights (Visions of Aisha Malik)’.
We first heard ‘New Heights (Visions of Aisha Malik)’ late final yr when it landed on 12” alongside monitor ‘Snitches Brew’ on Black Focus. The two-tracker adopted up his acclaimed debut album ‘The Return’ which launched in May 2018.
Directed by Greg Barnes, the brand new movie stars Chris Tang and Jayson Wynters and was shot on 35mm movie. Fusing martial arts with jazz, the movie gives an epic visible accompaniment to the musical materials.
“2019 is all about making motion pictures; Bruce Lee was an enormous inspiration rising up as a result of he was the primary Chinese man on the large display,” says Williams, aka Wu, a press launch. “I really feel like music and martial arts have the identical circulation of vitality and are respective artwork types. So why not carry Wu Funk and Kung Fu collectively?”
Meanwhile director Greg Barnes explains, “Kamaal doesn’t make music, he makes soundtracks, and it’s inspiring to work with him in such a shared imaginative and prescient – particularly if it means taking pictures some Kung Fu on 35mm movie.”
