The models’ hair was also an apparent homage to Flint, who passed away in March, as they donned brightly-coloured pink, yellow, orange and green spiked hair. The catwalk, featuring a sports car right in the centre, played host to leather, leopard and denim fits inspired by Flint. If Donatella’s inspiration wasn’t clear enough, the soundtrack to the show kicked off with The Prodigy’s iconic ‘Firestarter’.
This isn’t the first time Flint has been associated with the Italian fashion house. He caused disruption when he performed with his band at Versace’s menswear shows in 2004. With rumours of the artist breaking his leg during rehearsals, the controversial and erotic performance shocked spectators, with Flint licking and simulating oral sex on certain audience members. According to Donatella, Flint “was disruption”.
