Rick Ross has officially fired back at 50 Cent, firmly standing by his latest project and declaring Set in Stone the album of the year. The tension between the two hip-hop heavyweights escalated this week after 50 Cent publicly mocked the reported low sales figures of the Bawse’s new LP, which was released on July 17.
On Thursday (July 23), Rick Ross addressed the criticism in a video shared via his Instagram Story. Maintaining his confidence, he stated, “Album of the year. Whenever the final numbers come in, I’ma throw a party. Because the B.O.A.T. can do this.”
Ross did not hold back when addressing his longtime rival, pivoting the conversation toward 50 Cent’s recent business ventures. “How’s it going in Shreveport?” Ross questioned. “You borrowed all them people money. Did you give the money back?… Give them people back they money, Curtis.”
The exchange follows a series of social media jabs from 50 Cent, who has been vocal about the album’s performance. In one post, 50 Cent wrote, “LOL HE GOT AWAY WITH IT FOR A WHILE, BUT ITS OVER NOW JIG IS UP! 20 features under 10 thousand sales Damn boy it’s over.” He further escalated the situation by sharing a video clip suggesting that Ross is struggling to sell tickets for his upcoming tour, captioning it, “The Boat sank album went wood LOL Nobody checking for that bullsh*t!”
The public feud reignited earlier this week when 50 Cent claimed that the new album had only moved 2,000 units. “Yo had 20 features and it didn’t help,” 50 Cent wrote on Instagram. “Alright now pack it up it’s over officer. Get ya bum juice and ya wings and get the f**k up outta here. LOL.”
As the industry awaits the official first-week sales numbers, which are expected to be unveiled at the start of next week, the back-and-forth between the two artists continues to dominate headlines.
