Chicago rapper VonOff1700 has officially addressed his recent arrest after an alleged mugshot surfaced online, sparking widespread speculation across social media. The artist, who has been at the center of various reports regarding his legal status, took to his platforms on Thursday, July 30, to clarify the circumstances surrounding his viral booking photo and the claims that he was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon last week.

In a candid response to the situation, VonOff1700 offered a glimpse into the chaotic nature of the arrest. “On Mick, I went to jail off 30 mins of sleep & a 10 of Tris,” he wrote. “That’s what that look like when u get woke up by windows being busted & yo name gettin yelled out a microphone by the police. I just got a haircut let me post my selfie & I just got my tattoos redone stay out my way.” He later followed up with a brief, direct confirmation of his status, stating, “I’m still free and I got seen.”

While the specific details regarding the legal charges remain unclear, the rapper had previously hinted at a “sticky situation” in a video posted on July 24. Despite the legal hurdles, he reassured his fanbase that his scheduled tour date on August 8 remains unaffected.

This is not the first time the Chicago native has faced scrutiny from law enforcement. His history with the Chicago Police Department includes arrests in 2021 and 2022 for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, as well as a 2023 charge for armed robbery with a firearm. As of now, representatives for the artist and the Chicago Police Department have not provided further comment on the current situation.
