Detroit rap icon Eminem is offering sneaker enthusiasts a rare opportunity to secure a piece of hip-hop history. On Monday, August 17, the legendary artist officially placed 45 pairs of his ultra-exclusive Air Jordan 3 ‘Slim Shady’ Player Exclusive sneakers up for auction. This marks the first time these highly coveted shoes have been made available to the general public, providing a unique chance for collectors to own a piece of footwear lore.
The sneakers were originally designed specifically for Eminem’s high-profile performance during the Super Bowl LVI halftime show in 2022. Since their inception, the shoes have remained strictly out of reach for fans, maintaining an aura of exclusivity that has only grown over the years. Now, as part of a charitable initiative through the Marshall Mathers Foundation, these 45 pairs are finally hitting the market.
Beyond the ‘Slim Shady’ Jordan 3s, the auction—hosted by Julien’s Auctions—features over 100 signed sneakers from the rapper’s personal collection. Bidding is currently live and is scheduled to conclude on August 25 at 10 a.m. PT. According to a statement shared by Eminem on X, 100 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Marshall Mathers Foundation, which focuses on providing essential resources and opportunities for at-risk youth in Detroit and its surrounding communities.
This is not the first time the artist has leveraged his sneaker collection for philanthropy. Earlier this year, a signed pair of Nike Air Jordan 4s donated by the rapper fetched $5,120 at auction. Given the extreme rarity of the ‘Slim Shady’ Jordan 3s, market interest is already surging; as of this writing, current bids have reached $25,000, with expectations that the final sale prices will climb significantly higher before the auction closes.
