Drake‘s next chapter is loading. The Boy surprised fans during a livestream last night with the announcement that he has a new solo album on the horizon.

A New Solo Album From Drake on the Way

Drake and streamer Adin Ross joined forces for $1 million in giveaways on a Kick livestream Sunday night (April 13), thanks to the rapper’s partnership with gambling platform Stake. While the two buddies took some shots, gave motivational speeches, and were serenaded by cows mooing, among other funny moments, Drake revealed he’s currently back in the booth recording a solo album.

This would mark his second project of 2025, following the release of $ome $exy $ongs 4 U with PartyNextDoor. Aubs shared that “Greedy” is his favorite song off that LP during the stream.

“Shout-out to everybody that’s streaming the album,” Drake said of $$$ 4 U at the 23:08-mark in the video below. “Thank you, thank you so much… Every time, every journey. Working on a new album right now… it’s a slap.” To Adin’s surprise, he asked the Toronto MC if it’s a solo release and Drizzy confirmed it is. There’s no official release date yet, but Drake maintained he’s “cooking.”

The effort could arrive in time for The Boy’s three-day, headlining sets at Wireless Festival in London July 11-13. Drake does have a thing for summer releases. Scorpion in 2018, Certified Lover Boy in 2021, and Honestly, Nevermind in 2022, all dropped in summer—CLB still counts since it was the tail end of the season.

One of those albums sits among the favorites in his catalog. Further into the livestream and their gambling, Adin and Drake discussed the latter’s favorite album in his catalog. The diamond-certified artist explained that Nothing Was the Same and Honestly, Nevermind sit at the top of his picks. He chose the last album, which was a stylistic departure from his traditional sound as an MC and showcased him diving into dance and house, “because nobody believed, but me.” There was criticism in different directions when Drake dropped Honestly, Nevermind, but what kind of artist would he be if he didn’t experiment and take risks.

It’s been two years since Drake released For All The Dogs, his last solo album. Highlights like “First Person Shooter” featuring J. Cole, “8 AM in Charlotte” and “Rich Baby Daddy” featuring Sexyy Red and SZA added to its replay value. Since then, Drizzy has experienced many career highs and some lows, namely his rap battle with Kendrick Lamar putting a shadow over much of it.

While K-Dot was arguably the victor of their feud, Drake’s still got respect in the game. A battle isn’t enough to keep him down. Drake performed on the sold-out Anita Max Win Tour, $$$ 4 U went No. 1, his hit song “Nokia” has saturated the internet and currently sits at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, and broke another The Beatles record. All solid accomplishments heading into a new album. While some people are waiting on new music to see if he’ll address his foe any further, real fans are just satisfied to know there’s more chune coming from The Boy.
