Maino stays booked and busy these days. Between serving rhymes and hitting the stage to perform tracks from his recently released album Mainovation, the Brooklyn rapper is a radio cohost on Power 105’s Way Up With Angela Yee show, delivers his Mainovation words of wisdom straight from the whip and looks for a wife. Seriously. He’s getting married on July 26 and is documenting the journey in his Love on LayAway video series. With no girlfriend or fianceé to put a ring on just yet, he’s got some free time to engage in some conversation with famous figures he’s never met before for XXL‘s No Filter series.
Maino shares what he would say if he was in the room with President Donald Trump, singer Madonna, the late mob boss John Gotti, actors and comedians Larry David and Chris Rock, and adult actresses Teanna Trump and Jasamine Banks.
From the jump, the 51-year-old New York MC has an issue with Mr. President. Trump’s first 100 days in office have reportedly been the worst for the stock market since Richard Nixon’s administration. The drops came quickly following his recent announcements on tariffs, taxes imposed on goods imported into the U.S.
“Let me tell you something, Donnie,” Maino begins. “Come on, you f**kin’ up the stock market bruh. You f**kin’ up the money man. You got the stock market moving like this [up and down]. Come on. Get it together, Donnie, like please just get it together, man. Come on, do it for the people. Do it for the orange people.” Clearly, Maino’s got jokes.
That would explain why he’s got such good things to say about actor and comedian Larry David, famed co-creator of Seinfeld and the brainchild of Curb Your Enthusiasm, in which he starred, wrote and created the show. Those TV comedies have given Maino much food for thought over the years. Witnessing the artist’s own comedic timing proves he’s likely gotten some inspo from Larry over the years.
“I think Larry David is a master at what he does,” the rhymer tells XXL. “I would have just so many questions. How did you do it? When did you think about doing it, you know, did you see the show as a success? How did you get it to be a success? Did HBO believe in it when you when you first took it to them? Because he did an original pilot of [Curb Your Enthusiasm] years before right.” Maino isn’t new to this.
Getting the chance to ask anyone anything in this series means nothing is off limits, even X-rated content. Maino has a question for adult film stars Teanna Trump and Jasamine Banks. His inquiring mind wants to know how they do it, literally.
“I just want to know, when you like doing what you, do you do it and not have feeling or you do it like it’s a job? Because I know I speak to some ladies that’s in in that life and they always make me feel like it’s unpersonal, and it’s still a sex act, but then when you you do personal things, you doing it the exact same way. That’s what I don’t understand. Do you enjoy what you do professionally, but then personally, you basically have the same skill set.”
