Multidisciplinary artist Kelly Monrow’s crossover project Scars of Venus proved to be a great success for the singer-songwriter and actress. Incorporating ‘90s Alternative Pop/Rock with Southern/Country sounds, the Texas-native offers a setlist that includes the singles “Wake Up,” “Ain’t Mine,” “Jagged Heart” and “The Woman.”
Monrow admits that her debut album liberates her from past sorrows and helps her start over, discovering a new and renewed voice, “This album has been such a testament to putting my mind to something and following through on it. I started singing and writing during Covid and when life got back to semi-normal, I promised myself I would keep writing and pursuing music and I am so glad I made that decision. This album is a collection of songs of me stepping into womanhood and owning my past.”
Alongside her musical career, Monrow also continues to make a name for herself in Hollywood. The actress has a feature film coming up, called Three Days Rising, starring Mickey Rourke, Peter Greene, Bo Dietl, Vincent Young. She had also previously showcased impeccable acting skills through her roles in TV series like Lucifer, Billions, and American Crime Story.
Speaking of Scars of Venus, Kelly explains, “I started out in Country music and that is the roots of my music. I went a little more Americana/Pop with this album but I don’t think I will ever be in one genre. I plan to just write and create whatever comes through me and see where it leads me. I think we get in funk when we try to create ourselves into a particular category or genre.”
Kelly Monrow, also known as Kelly Dowdle possesses all the characteristics that are required to be an all-around artist. The audience has already embraced her and resonated with her words. She is able to connect with the public on a personal level and bring happiness to their lives thanks to her authenticity, lively spirit, and honest heart.
