A new mugshot of Pooh Shiesty has surfaced, marking the latest development in the rapper’s ongoing legal proceedings. On April 17, the artist, born Lontrell Williams Jr., was processed into the Kaufman County Jail in Texas. He is currently being held as he awaits trial on charges of kidnapping and conspiracy to commit kidnapping, stemming from an alleged robbery involving Gucci Mane that reportedly took place in January. Williams was previously denied bond on April 8.
The case involves several other individuals, including Big30 and the rapper’s father, who are accused of luring the veteran artist to a Dallas recording studio. Prosecutors allege that the group robbed the victim and coerced him into signing a contract release form at gunpoint. Following the unsuccessful bond hearing, defense attorney Bradford Cohen addressed the media to challenge the strength of the prosecution’s case.
“It took three months to build a case,” Cohen said. “And I think the reason for that was because the statements that were given on the evening this occurred were very questionable.”
Cohen further questioned the investigative process, suggesting that the evidence presented does not align with the initial statements provided to authorities. “I think the way the statements were made, what was made, what allegedly was witnessed and what wasn’t witnessed gave great pause to the FBI,” Cohen continued. “The FBI doesn’t take three months to arrest someone if they believe everything that was said that night that it occurred.”
The situation has drawn significant attention within the hip-hop community, particularly after Gucci Mane addressed the incident on his recent track, “Crash Dummy.” The song, which features lyrics referencing the alleged robbery and the subsequent police investigation, has sparked a polarized reaction among fans and fellow artists, with some criticizing the decision to speak publicly on the matter while the legal case is still active.
