Hollywood, California rapper and entrepreneur Wakko the Kidd has been on a steady ascent since his 2018 debut, “Multiple Racks.” Beyond his musical endeavors, he successfully launched his own cannabis strain, Airheadz, and has recently solidified his position within the industry by signing with Psychopathic Records in 2024. Following his full-length debut, In Airheadz We Trust, he returns with a focused new project, The Kidd That Did.

The EP opens with “Food 4 Less,” a track defined by a cold-blooded trap beat that highlights his success and the high cost of his live performances. This energy continues into “Go Crazy,” a boisterous anthem dedicated to those on the grind. Throughout the project, Wakko balances his street origins with his current reality; “I Had To” chronicles his transition from breaking into houses to signing with the label beneath the streets, while “Put in Work” blends trap, cloud rap, and rock elements to emphasize his relentless hustle.
The second half of the project offers a more reflective tone. “Motel 6” revisits his past struggles, while “Spring Break” captures a lighter, more casual narrative. The project concludes with “F.W.M. (Fuck Wit Me)” and “Coast to Coast,” the latter of which highlights his ongoing business ventures in the cannabis industry.
Critics previously questioned whether Wakko could carry a project solo, given the heavy reliance on guest features on his previous work. With The Kidd That Did, he directly addresses these concerns. By opting for a feature-free tracklist, he showcases his growth as a lyricist and his ability to command a body of work independently. While the trap production remains standard, the project is a commendable step forward in his discography.
