Chicago artist Vic Mensa is officially stepping into the podcasting arena with the launch of The Vic Mensa Show. Following the success of his Webby Award-winning Orange Tree series on Instagram, the rapper is set to debut a 24-episode series on August 26. The project is a collaborative effort involving Mass Appeal, Blank Square Productions, and Pickup Media.
The inaugural episode of the podcast will feature a conversation with fellow Chicago icon Chance The Rapper. The series promises a diverse lineup of guests, including Rapsody, Durand Bernarr, Lena Waithe, Aja Monet, and Van Lathan Jr. Listeners can expect new episodes to drop every Wednesday across major platforms, including YouTube, Spotify Video, and Apple Video.
Reflecting on the transition from social media clips to a long-form podcast format, Vic Mensa shared his vision for the show. “The Orange Tree illustrated for me the transcendent possibilities of conversation: a space for the discussion of radical ideas, humor, honesty and vulnerability,” he stated. “What began as a conversation with my community online is now expanding, through The Vic Mensa Show, to include great minds that I respect across many disciplines.”
The launch of the podcast coincides with the debut of ORANJ, Vic’s new production company. This venture will serve as a creative hub for his various projects, including his short film Halfrican, his Substack, and the original Orange Tree series. Vic first introduced the Orange Tree concept in late 2024, where he gained significant traction for his candid commentary on current events.
