Houston rapper Cartel Bo has been arrested and is currently being held without bail after facing serious allegations of kidnapping the mother of his three children. Authorities claim he held the woman against her will, subjecting her to physical and sexual assault over the course of several days before she managed to escape.
The artist, whose legal name is Warren Brown, was initially taken into custody on Saturday, July 25. According to documents obtained by the Houston Chronicle, the initial arrest was tied to separate charges of family violence assault and assault causing bodily injury, stemming from an alleged incident in June involving the same woman and her Uber driver.
Court records detail a harrowing account of the kidnapping, which allegedly began on Tuesday, July 21. Investigators report that Brown refused to allow the victim to leave the premises. The woman eventually escaped the following day by breaking out of a locked closet while still wearing handcuffs. A nearby resident discovered her, provided assistance, and contacted law enforcement. Police reportedly located the victim at a local Waffle House, still restrained, before transporting her to a hospital for medical treatment.
Following the discovery, Brown was officially charged with kidnapping. During their investigation of the home, police recovered zip ties and noted that a deadbolt had been installed on the closet door. Investigators also reported finding fast-food wrappers inside the closet, suggesting the victim had been held there for an extended period.
In a statement provided to KPRC 2 News, defense attorney Sam Milledge addressed the gravity of the situation, stating, “[They are] not the prettiest, but at the same time, I’ve dealt with worse and you just have to let these things play out.”
Cartel Bo is scheduled to return to court on Monday, August 3, for a hearing regarding the felony charges of aggravated kidnapping and family assault. A subsequent court appearance is set for Friday, August 7, to address the misdemeanor assault charge related to the Uber driver incident.
