Chicago rap icon Chief Keef has issued a formal apology to his fanbase following the abrupt cancellation of his recent homecoming performance. The show, which was slated to kick off his Chief Keef Live 2026 tour at the Huntington Bank Pavilion on September 12, was called off at the last minute, leaving many attendees already inside the venue.
In a candid statement shared via his Instagram Story, the rapper clarified that the disruption was entirely out of his control. He alleged that the cancellation stemmed from a discriminatory encounter with a pilot at the airport. “It wasn’t f**king me at all y’all. Or it wasn’t the city,” Keef explained. “It was a pilot who got very racist at the clear port. And the pilot decided to cancel my plane, which had us scattering to find new jets. And by the time we found an option, it would be too late to land and do a full show.”
Despite the frustration of the situation, the artist expressed his genuine disappointment and appreciation for his supporters. “No, I ain’t happy. Yes, I am upset,” he added. “I know all of you anticipated this just like me. For days and weeks and a few months. Thanks to all who came to see me today, I really love all of y’all who bought a ticket to come see me. And I’m sincerely sorry that this happened, trust me.”
The tour stop has been successfully rescheduled for September 23. Keef assured his fans that he remains committed to delivering a high-energy performance, stating, “On the 23rd, I’ma go crazy for y’all and give it my all. That was my first racist pilot who canceled a plane. But we back on for the 23rd, mark my words.”
