The legal proceedings surrounding YNW Melly have hit another standstill. The decision to release the rapper on bond has been officially deferred, with the court indicating that a ruling will be issued at a later date. This development follows a detention hearing held on April 30, which had been a focal point for Melly’s legal team and supporters who were hopeful for his release after seven years of incarceration while fighting a double-murder case.

According to documents filed in the Broward County Clerk’s Office, the presiding judge has opted to postpone the decision. At this time, there is no confirmed timeline for when the final ruling will be handed down.

Melly’s mother, Jamie King, addressed the situation in a social media update on May 1. She expressed the family’s anticipation for a decision, noting that the hearing date coincided with the rapper’s birthday. “The ruling will be uploaded online,” King stated. “So, we are just gonna keep checking the website for his ruling and praying that they grant my baby bond. It’s been a very long time. I know people didn’t believe me when I was saying just how horrible they were treating him.”

She further emphasized the family’s stance on the legal process, adding, “I don’t see how you can treat anybody like that. It’s innocent until proven guilty.”

Despite the uncertainty, YNW Melly has personally addressed the status of his case. In a post on his Instagram Story over the weekend, he pushed back against reports suggesting his bond had been denied. “Bond not denied. Fake News. Still waiting. God 1st,” he wrote.
