Memphis rapper Gloss Up is providing a candid look into the serious car accident that nearly resulted in the loss of her foot. The incident, which required emergency surgery to save her ligament, has left the artist with a long road to recovery, though she remains in high spirits.
Speaking from her hospital bed on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, Gloss Up addressed the confusion surrounding her initial announcement that her foot had been amputated. She clarified that the severity of the injury and the state of her leg immediately following the crash led her to believe the worst had happened. “Y’all, I was not tryna mislead y’all when I said that my leg was amputated,” she explained during a live stream. “But it was off! Like my leg was just like, [hanging]. When I wrecked, I instantly thought about my kids and I was just glad they weren’t in the car.”
The Details of the Crash
Gloss Up recounted the terrifying moments following the collision, which occurred around 3 a.m. on an expressway. She described hitting a vehicle that had already spun out and was stationary in the road. The impact was significant enough to trigger her airbags, leaving her trapped and fearing for her life. “My leg was dangling,” she shared. “I kept asking the paramedics like, ‘Is my leg gone?’ And they were just shrugging. It took me so long to get on that stretcher.”
Despite the trauma, the medical team was able to perform successful surgery to reconstruct the damage. “They done sewed me up real good,” she added. “I got nails and rods and stuff in my leg now.”
Recovery and Future Plans
While she is currently bed-ridden, the rapper is maintaining her trademark resilience. She confirmed that she still intends to move forward with her scheduled birthday photoshoot, even if the setting has to be adjusted to accommodate her recovery. Gloss Up, who turns 29 on July 16, remains focused on her healing process while keeping her fans updated on her progress.
