During a recent appearance at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum, Vice President JD Vance offered a sharp, sarcastic critique of Diddy, jokingly referring to the disgraced music mogul as a “great Christian theologian.” The comment came as Vance discussed his new book, Communion, which explores his personal evolution regarding faith and politics.

While addressing a chapter in his book titled “More Money, More Problems”—a clear nod to the 1997 Notorious B.I.G. track—Vance used the opportunity to highlight the irony of his own past priorities. “Well, again, I’m a millennial and so I believe that’s, uh, that’s the wisdom of the great Christian theologian P. Diddy,” Vance remarked to the audience. He quickly pivoted to the reality of the situation, adding, “Who, as we found out over the last couple years, is very much not a Christian or a theologian.”

The Vice President explained that the chapter title was intended to reflect his younger years, a time when he mistakenly prioritized financial success and prestige over spiritual fulfillment. He noted that as his fame and wealth increased, he found his life becoming increasingly complex, eventually leading him to seek clarity through his faith and family.

The quip arrives at a time when Diddy remains incarcerated, currently serving a 50-month federal prison sentence following a conviction for transportation to engage in prostitution. While his release date was recently adjusted to April 2028, the former rap mogul continues to face significant legal and public scrutiny, making Vance’s satirical reference to his “theological” wisdom a pointed jab at his fall from grace.
