In a candid update for his fans, Lil Wayne has officially set the record straight regarding his relationship status. The iconic rapper took to Instagram on Sunday, July 5, to address widespread speculation that he was engaged to Madi Cannon, a 23-year-old Indiana native.
“I would like to clear something up,” the artist, often referred to as Tunechi, stated in a video message. “No, I am not engaged. I had a beautiful thing going with an amazing person. But, obviously, due to the validity of the temperature of today’s crazy world and culture, I considered I don’t want to be such a burden on such an amazing person. So, we decided to part.”
The clarification comes after weeks of public interest, fueled by sightings of the pair together. Despite the recent rumors, the rapper emphasized that the relationship has come to an end, captioning his post with the resigned sentiment, “It is what it is.”
Addressing Health and Tour Disruptions
Beyond his personal life, the rapper also addressed concerns regarding his professional commitments, specifically his absence from the June 30 kickoff of his 20+ Years of Carter Classics Tour in Bangor, Maine. He provided transparency regarding his ongoing health challenges.
“Listen, I have epilepsy and I have seizures, right?” he explained. “Thank God I haven’t had a seizure in years, but seizures have triggers. The trigger to my seizures are bad-a*s migraines, and I had a bad-a*s migraine that night.”
The tour date has since been rescheduled, and the artist confirmed that he is prepared to return to the stage on July 16 in Des Moines, Iowa, as he continues his celebration of two decades of musical influence.
