Young Thug is preparing to explore new musical territory. The Atlanta-based artist recently took to his Instagram Story to share a candid update from the gym, where he revealed that he has an R&B album on the way.

In the brief clip, shared on Wednesday (June 10), the rapper was seen focusing on his fitness, noting, “I gotta get this sh*t all the way together,” while looking into the mirror. The announcement marks a potential departure from the trap-heavy sound that has defined his career, signaling a pivot toward a more melodic, genre-bending project.

Thug’s last studio effort, UY Scuti, was released last September. The project arrived roughly a year after his release from prison following a plea deal in the YSL RICO case. UY Scuti showcased his versatility, featuring a wide array of collaborators including 21 Savage, Cardi B, and several others, ultimately debuting at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 chart. It served as the follow-up to 2023’s Business Is Business.

Throughout 2026, the rapper has remained active on the feature circuit, lending his vocals to tracks by artists like 6lack, Trippie Redd, Nav, and Fred Again… His influence was further solidified in April when The New York Times named him one of the greatest living songwriters, placing him in the company of legends like Jay-Z, OutKast, Kendrick Lamar, and Missy Elliott.

As fans await further details on this upcoming R&B project, it remains clear that Young Thug continues to evolve as an artist, unafraid to challenge the boundaries of his established sound.
