Shekema “Queen Kema” Springfield, the mother of King Von’s son, took the stand this week during the ongoing Lil Durk murder-for-hire trial. Her testimony directly challenged the credibility of OTF Vonnie, whom she characterized as both a “liar and thief” during the proceedings.
Testifying in Los Angeles on Thursday, Sept. 3, Springfield refuted previous claims made by OTF Vonnie—born Kavon Grant—regarding a gathering held in honor of the late King Von. While Vonnie had previously asserted under oath that he and Lil Durk discussed plans for retribution following Von’s passing, Springfield maintained that she never observed Durk at the memorial location. Furthermore, she stated that no such conversations regarding vengeance took place during the three-day event.
As reported by Taylor Parise of Los Angeles Magazine, who has been documenting the trial, Springfield provided insight into the dynamic between King Von and Vonnie. She noted that the two were inseparable, spending their time together daily. According to Springfield, this closeness extended to financial matters, with Vonnie assuming management of King Von’s finances. During the testimony, the defense team attempted to raise questions regarding an alleged misappropriation of $300,000 from a trust intended for King Von’s son, though the line of questioning faced an objection and was not pursued further.
Springfield also shared details regarding her inquiries into the circumstances of King Von’s death. She alleged that when she questioned Vonnie about the identity of the perpetrator, he instructed her not to concern herself with the matter, assuring her that he would resolve it.
As the legal proceedings draw to a close, the defense team rested their case on Wednesday following testimony from several witnesses. It has been confirmed that Lil Durk, along with co-defendants OTF Dede and Browneyez, will not take the stand. Closing arguments are slated to begin on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Following the week’s developments, Lil Durk posted a brief message to his Instagram Story on Friday, Sept. 4, stating, “Allah Is The Greatest,” accompanied by a prayer emoji.
