Buzzing rapper Lil Tjay is fighting for his life in a New Jersey hospital, after being shot last night.
According to reports, the rapper, born Tione Jayden Merritt, was involved in a situation in Edgewater, New Jersey that turned violent.
According to TMZ, a shootout erupted outside of a Chipotle in The Promenade shopping center, and more gunplay took place at a nearby Exxon. The person struck at the Chipotle was hit multiple times, while the victim at the Exxon was shot once.
Lil Tjay, 21, was struck by gunfire and rushed to the hospital, where he is undergoing emergency surgery for wounds that are considered to be life-threatening.
The Daily Voice identified a second victim, 22-year-old Vic Antoine Boyd. He was shot in the back during the incident. Police are still seeking a motive, and as of press time, no suspects have been apprehended.
The Bronx-born rapper is signed to Columbia Records.
He has claimed to be the King of New York and has released “Goin’ Up,” as well as “Calling My Phone” with 6lack, “In My Head,” and “Not in the Mood” featuring Fivio Foreign and Kay Flock.
All three of those tracks made it onto Billboard‘s Hot 100 weekly chart.
