The mother of King Von‘s son, Shekema “Queen Kema” Springfield, provided critical testimony this week during Lil Durk‘s ongoing murder-for-hire trial. Taking the stand on Thursday, Sept. 3, in Los Angeles, Springfield directly challenged the narrative presented by OTF Vonnie, labeling him a liar and a thief.
Springfield testified that she never observed Lil Durk at the home where King Von’s memorial was held, nor did she hear any discussions regarding avenging Von’s death during the three-day gathering. Her account stands in stark contrast to the testimony previously provided by OTF Vonnie (born Kavon Grant), who claimed that he and Durk had discussed seeking revenge for Von’s killing at that location.
According to reports from Los Angeles Magazine journalist Taylor Parise, who has been covering the proceedings, Springfield—a 10-year U.S. Army veteran—detailed the close relationship between King Von and OTF Vonnie. She noted that the two were inseparable and that Vonnie had assumed control over King Von’s finances. During the proceedings, the defense team attempted to suggest that Vonnie had misappropriated $300,000 from a trust fund intended for King Von’s son, though the line of questioning was met with an objection and not further pursued.
Springfield further testified that when she inquired about the identity of King Von’s killer, Vonnie allegedly told her “not to worry about it, and he’s going to take care of it.”
As the trial nears its conclusion, the defense has rested its case after calling several witnesses. Attorneys confirmed that Lil Durk and his co-defendants, OTF Dede and Browneyez, will not be taking the stand. Closing arguments are slated to begin on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Following the court session on Friday, Sept. 4, Lil Durk posted a brief message to his Instagram Story, writing, “Allah Is The Greatest,” accompanied by a prayer emoji.
