Tha God Fahim has returned with his 76th overall project, Lethal Weapon 5, a collaborative effort with producer Drega33. As an affiliate of Griselda Records and a founding member of the Dump Gawds alongside Mach-Hommy and Your Old Droog, Fahim has cultivated a massive discography. His career is defined by standout projects such as Breaking Through tha Van Allen Belts, Dump Assassins, and the critically acclaimed Dump Gawd: Shot Clock King series. After a period of mixed reception regarding his recent EPs, The Blacker the Berry and Tha Nighthawk Chapter, this new installment in the Lethal Weapon series serves as a focused return to form.
The project opens with the title track, “Lethal Weapon,” which utilizes a sample-driven boom bap instrumental to address critics and skeptics. The momentum continues with “Vega,” a track that strips away the drums to highlight Fahim’s lyrical prowess regarding his dual role in the rap game and the streets. Themes of ambition and consequence are explored on “All I Know,” while “Times of War” offers a soulful meditation on the balance between conflict and harmony.
The second half of the EP maintains this high level of quality. “Verses N Curses” leans into heavy sampling, providing a backdrop for Fahim’s sharp delivery, while “New Life,” featuring Jay NiCE, offers a jazz-infused perspective on legacy and the next generation. The project concludes with “Stimulate the Mind” and “Wear Fear n Love,” both of which showcase a more introspective and refined approach to his craft.
